The new brand utilized the Microsoft-owned "Groove" trademark formerly used for the unrelated product Microsoft Office Groove (now OneDrive for Business). On July 6, 2015, Microsoft announced the re-branding of Xbox Music as Groove to tie in with the impending release of Windows 10. Both services launched on October 16, 2012. With the accompanying announcement of Xbox Video, this move was intended to position Xbox as the company's main entertainment brand. ĭuring its E3 2012 press conference, and in the wake of the upcoming release of Windows 8, Microsoft announced the relaunch of the service as Xbox Music. The line of Zune players and Zune music store were somewhat unsuccessful, and the brand was largely discontinued at the beginning of the 2010s, although it continued to exist on different devices and the Zune Music Pass offered unlimited access to songs for US$9.99 per month. The Zune Music Marketplace included 11 million tracks. Microsoft had previously ventured into music services with its Zune brand. Groove Music was superseded by Media Player in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Its subscription service Groove Music Pass was officially discontinued on December 31, 2017, and the Android and iOS versions of the Groove Music app were discontinued in December 2018, restricting the player to its native Microsoft Store base. As of 2014, The Groove catalogue had over 50 million tracks. The app is also associated with a now-discontinued music streaming service, Groove Music Pass, which was supported across Windows, Xbox video game consoles, Windows Phone, as well as Android and iOS. Groove Music (formerly Xbox Music or Zune Music Pass) is a discontinued audio player software application included with Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, Windows 11. It's a great addition to our Photos workflow, and I'm very glad that they included it.Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 11 But you do get that original shot, it does retain the edits, and it's very convenient. So, that part you'll either have to do yourself, or use a third-party app. Now the one thing that you won't get is that if you bring in a whole library, you won't get the albums, and you won't get any keywords. Now, the one thing that you won't get, we'll just go ahead and click done here. So, this is the big advantage to doing it this way in that it retains all of its Photos stuff. So, it still gives me all of the things that I had before. So, I can go down here, and I can turn on and off live photo, and I can look at different views of it. And it's a live photo, which means that there's lots of additional information. So, you see how my edits come in as well. So, we'll just go to edit, and oh, it looks like that I have done some editing. So, we can take a look at them, and let's see if I've done any editing on these images. Now, both of those images come in, right here. In this case, I'm not going to put 'em in California, we'll just put 'em in the library itself, so just at the top level. I could import all of them, but I'm just going to import two selected. So, we'll just go to this one right here, this is one that I created specifically for some training, and I go, "Oh, you know what? "It'd be nice to have a few of those images "inside our library that we're working on right now." So, I'm going to grab just two of them, so I'll grab this one right here, and let's see, I'll grab this right here, just two shots. But now you navigate to the other Photos library that you want to use. You start out by going up to file, and you just use the regular import command right there. So, this is kind of a big deal if you have multiple Photos libraries. And this method also has a key feature that allows you to bring the original image in, in addition to the edited one. It saves you from having to export out of one library and then import into another. And at first, this might not sound like a big thing, but it can really save you a lot of time if you have multiple Photos libraries and you want to grab a subset, or even all the images, from another Photos library and bring them into the library that you're working in. A new importing feature in Mac OS Monterey is the ability to bring images in from another Photos library.
